Glasgow: Day 2

This morning we received word that Russ' father, Gary, had passed away. He had been fighting a long, hard battle with cancer and had taken a turn for the worst in recent weeks. We had known his passing would likely happen while we were away, but it is impossible to be prepared for the event to actually occur. Though we were deeply saddened we decided to continue on with our plans for the day and enjoy them as best we could, as Gary wanted and instructed us to do.
After a full Scottish breakfast (Russ' first and one of the things he was most looking forward to on the trip!) we set out across the city for the Glasgow Botanic Gardens. We had a very peaceful walk through the gardens in a light mist, with Gary in our hearts. We warmed up a bit with tea at the Tea Room in the Botanic Gardens.
From there we walked to Glasgow University to visit the Huntairian museum, Glasgow's oldest public museum. After a tour of the museum we took a stroll through Kelvingrove Park to the Kelvingrove Art Museum and Gallery. Described as being like a Scottish Smithsonian, this museum houses a collection that spans from animal specimens  to works by artists such as Monet, Rodin, and Dali, as well as exhibits on Scottish culture. I, of course, was scouting their various forms of public interactives as research!
Those of you who know me know how much I love traditional afternoon tea. So Russ let me drag him to a little tea shop hidden down an alleyway called the Hidden Lane Tearoom. It was cute and the treats were delicious.

Full from two teas in one day, we called it an early night (everything except bars and restaurants close by 7:00pm here!!) and headed back to our hotel to rest before our day trip to the town Dunlop tomorrow!
