Glasgow: Day 1

Today we landed in Glasgow, Scotland! Our plane arrived an hour earlier than scheduled (how does that even happen??) which would be great except we landed at 6:00am and we had been hoping to use that extra hour to get a little more sleep! After a long wait for a bus and an hour bus ride into Glasgow we finally made it to our hotel. We stashed our bags with hotel reception and decided what we really needed was breakfast! So we headed to Cafezique, called Glasgow's best breakfast. It certainly was delicious. I had these Eggs Benedict with toast and raspberry jam and Russ had French toast topped with bacon. Yum!

After we were able to check in to our hotel, we headed to the Buchannan Galleries for a little shopping. We came across a Boots Pharmacy & Beauty (I love Boots!) that was focused on beauty and looked like the makeup and perfume section of a department store. I was in heaven!

After our shopping trip we took a bus tour of the city of Glasgow. I love these bus tours for the first day in a new country. They are so easy to do when you are super tired and jet lagged, and they give you a lot of information on sites to see during the rest of your visit. Our bus tour ended in George Square, where a large rally was happening in support of Scotland's Referendum 2014. Today Scotland voted on independence from the UK. The polls were being reported as very close. We'll see what happens when the results are in tomorrow!
